Essential Qualities of a reporter

·       Basic information- Correspondent needs basic knowledge of all genres of history, geography, economics, commerce, science, satellite, electronics, etc., so that he does not face any difficulty while collecting news and can make his reporting in a fair and accurate manner.

मूलभूत जानकारी- संवाददाता में इतिहास, भूगोल, अर्थशास्त्र, वाणिज्य, विज्ञान, सैटेलाइट, इलेक्ट्रानिक्स आदि सभी विधाओं की मूलभूत या बुनियादी जानकारी आवश्यक है, ताकि समाचार इकट्ठा करते समय उसे कोई कठिनाई न हो और वह अपनी रिपोर्टिंग उचित तथा यथार्थ रूप में कर सके।

·       Linguist- Correspondent must have knowledge of not only their mother tongue, but also at least one or two languages of the official language, national language, local language and country and abroad. This is because the reporter may have to coordinate several languages during news compilation to write the news. Having knowledge of diverse and different languages, he can exchange his views and interview with any person at any place at any time, and can go deep to the event, problem or news.

भाषाविद्- संवाददाता को अपनी मातृभाषा का ही नहीं, बल्कि राजभाषा, राष्ट्रभाषा, स्थानीय भाषा और देश–विदेश की कम से कम एक-दो भाषाओं का ज्ञान होना आवश्यक है। ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि संवाददाता को समाचार संकलन के दौरान कई भाषाओं का समन्वय कर समाचार लिखना पड़ सकता है। संवाददाता को विविध और विभिन्न भाषाओं का ज्ञान होने पर वह किसी भी स्थान पर किसी भी समय, किसी भी व्यक्ति से अपने विचारों का आदान– प्रदान व साक्षात्कार आदि कर सकता है और घटना, समस्या, समाचार की गहराई तक जा सकता है।

·       Good interviewer- Dexterity in interviewing is an important quality of a reporter. Due to this quality, the correspondent helps in getting the necessary, complete and concrete information about an event and subject through personal interview, group interview, special interview etc.

अच्छा साक्षात्कारकर्ता- साक्षात्कार लेने में निपुणता संवाददाता का महत्वपूर्ण गुण है। इस गुण के कारण संवाददाता को किसी घटना व विषय विशेष के बारे में वैयक्तिक साक्षात्कार, समूह साक्षात्कार, विशेष साक्षात्कार के माध्यम से आवश्यक, पूर्ण, ठोस व पुख्ता जानकारी प्राप्त करने में मदद मिलती है।

·       Knowledge of typing, stenography, computer- Correspondent get helps with typing, stenography, necessary technical knowledge of the computer to prepare the news in the shortest possible time and to present the news based on the style and manner of printing of the newspaper.

टंकण, आशुलेखन, कम्प्यूटर का ज्ञान- संवाददाता को टंकण, आशुलेखन, मुद्रलेखन, कम्प्यूटर के आवश्यक तकनीकी ज्ञान से कम से कम समय में समाचार तैयार करने और समाचार पत्र के मुद्रण की शैली व प्रस्तुतिकरण के ढंग के आधार पर समाचार प्रस्तुत करने में सहायता मिलती है।

·       Knowledge of culture- The culture of Indian ideals and values ​​is determined by which every Indian is connected to each other in some form or the other. It is considered an essential quality for a reporter to have a thorough knowledge of the culture of his country. संस्कृति का ज्ञान- भारतीय आदर्श व जीवनमूल्यों का निर्धारण संस्कृति करती है, जिससे हर भारतवासी किसी न किसी रूप में एक दूसरे से जु़ड़ा हुआ है। संवाददाता को अपने देश की संस्कृति का भली-भांति ज्ञान होना एक आवश्यक गुण माना जाता है। इसके कारण पाठकों की भावनाओं, विचारों व आवश्यकताओं को समझकर उसके अनुरूप समाचारों को प्रस्तुत करना संभव हो पाता है, जिससे समाचार पत्र की विश्वसनीयता और न्यायप्रियता उभरकर सामने आने में मदद मिलती है। इससे समाचार पत्र जन-साधारण से मानसिक व भावनात्मक स्तर पर जुड़ जाता है और सामूहिक कल्याण करना संभव हो पाता है।

News compiled on the basis of readers' interest helps in increasing the popularity of the newspaper. Skilled reporters present their dialogues in such a simple and beautiful manner that readers do not have difficulty in understanding them and they should take greater interest in it.

पाठक की रुचि का ज्ञान- समाचार की समसामयिकता के साथ पाठक की रुचि का भी ख्याल रखना संवाददाता की विशेष योग्यता माना जाता है। पाठकों की रुचि के आधार पर संकलित समाचार, अखबार की लोकप्रियता को बढाने में सहायक होते हैं। कुशल संवाददाता अपने संवाद की प्रस्तुति इस प्रकार सरल व सुंदर ढंग से करते हैं कि पाठकों को उसे समझने में कठिनाई न हो और वे उसमें अधिकाधिक रुचि लें।

जिज्ञासु वृत्ति- पाठकों की जिज्ञासा को शांत करने के लिये संवाददाता में किसी घटना, समस्या या समाचार को जानने की उत्सुकता का गुण होना अवश्यंभावी होता है, क्योंकि उसकी अपनी जिज्ञासु वृत्ति ही किसी घटना या समाचार की गहरायी तक पहुंचने और वास्तविक तथ्यों, आंकड़ों और सूचनाओं को पाठकों के सामने प्रस्तुत करने में सहायक हो सकती है।

·       Courage and tolerance- Being courageous is a core quality of a reporter. Sometimes a reporter has to go to war, nuisance, natural outbreak, risky and exploratory places to gather news. Only a courageous correspondent can work at such places. Tolerance is also an essential quality of a reporter. Many times he has to face a lot of difficulties for compiling the news. He has to work for many days without eating or drinking, without sleeping. Also, he sometimes has to face the mistreatment of the local people. In such a situation, tolerance is necessary, so that it can remain stable even in such a situation.

साहस और सहनशीलता- साहसी होना संवाददाता का एक मुख्य गुण है। कभी-कभी संवाददाता को समाचार इकट्ठा करने के लिये युद्ध, उपद्रव, प्राकृतिक प्रकोप, जोखिम भरे व खोजपूर्ण स्थानों पर जाना पड़ता है। ऐसे स्थलों पर एक साहसी संवाददाता ही कार्य कर सकता है। सहनशीलता भी संवाददाता का आवश्यक गुण है। कई बार समाचार संकलन के लिये उसे काफी कष्टों का सामना करना पड़ता है। बिना खाये-पीये, बिना सोये कई-कई दिनों तक उसे कार्य करना पड़ता है। साथ ही, कभी– कभी स्थानीय लोगों के दुर्व्यवहार का भी उसे सामना करना पड़ता है। ऐसे में सहनशीलता आवश्यक होती है, जिससे कि वह ऐसी स्थिति में भी अडिग रह सके।

·       Integrity- Integrity is a basic requirement of the reporter. If he is honest, he can present the truth impartially. It is very important to bring the truth of any incident to the readers, because on the basis of it, a general opinion of the public is formed. Giving false news can cause social and political commotion or sabotage.

सत्यनिष्ठा- सत्यनिष्ठा संवाददाता की एक बुनियादी आवश्यकता है। यदि वह सत्यनिष्ठ होगा तो निष्पक्ष रूप से सच्चाई प्रस्तुत कर सकेगा। किसी भी घटना की सच्चाई का पाठकों के सामने लाना बड़ा महत्व रखता है, क्योंकि उसके आधार पर जन-सामान्य की आम राय बनती है। गलत समाचार देने से सामाजिक और राजनैतिक हलचल या तोड़-फोड़ की नौबत आ सकती है।

·       Concentration- Concentration makes the idea powerful and the imagination clear. एकाग्रचित्तता- एकाग्रचित्तता, विचार को शक्तिशाली और कल्पना को स्पष्ट करती है। एकाग्रता से संकलित व प्रस्तुत समाचारों को पढने से पाठक की दृष्टि, मनन शक्ति और कार्य शक्ति तीनों शक्तियां सक्रिय हो उठती हैं, इसलिये संवाददाता की यह जिम्मेदारी होती है कि घटना स्थल पर जो नहीं है उसका प्रतिनिधित्व करे, जटिल घटनाओं व विविध समस्याओं को न्याय देने का एकाग्रचित्तता से प्रयत्न करे और पाठकों को शिक्षित प्रशिक्षित और सही रूप से मार्गदर्शित करने का प्रयत्न करे।

·       Suspicious, aware, alert- Suspicious tendency, awareness and alertness are important and essential qualities of a reporter. On being alert, questions like what, why, who, when, how and where about a particular incident arise in the mind of the reporter, which motivates him to get answers. These things make the reporter more alert to know the depth and truth of the incident.

शंकालु, जागरूक, सतर्क- शंकालु प्रवृत्ति, सतर्कता और चौकन्नापन संवाददाता के महत्वपूर्ण और अनिवार्य गुण हैं। सतर्क रहने पर ही संवाददाता के मन में किसी घटना विशेष के बारे में क्या, क्यों, कौन, कब, कैसे और कहां जैसे प्रश्न उठते हैं, जो उनके उत्तर पाने के लिये उसे उत्प्रेरित करते हैं। ये चीजें घटना की गहरायी और सत्यता को जानने के लिये संवाददाता को और अधिक चौकन्ना बनाती है।

·       Past, present and future vision (forecast) - Ability to work while living in the present, weighing history and keeping an eye on the future is essential in the correspondent. When presenting any news, along with mentioning the previous outline of that news, the analysis of its impact on the future gives the readers complete and accurate information about that news.

·       भूत, वर्तमान और भविष्य दृष्टा (पूर्वानुमान)- संवाददाता में वर्तमान में रहते हुए, इतिहास को तौलते हुए और भविष्य पर नजर रखकर काम करने की योग्यता आवश्यक होती है। किसी भी समाचार को प्रस्तुत करते समय उस समाचार की पिछली रूपरेखा का उल्लेख करने के साथ भविष्य में पड़ने वाले उसके प्रभाव के विवेचन– विश्लेषण से पाठकों को उस समाचार की पूर्ण व सही ढंग से जानकारी मिलती है।

·       Communicability- The main element of newspapers is to exchange ideas and the main function of correspondent is to compile news and express their thoughts and feelings with straight and strong words. For this, there is a great need for original language, specific language style and unique way of expressing ideas.

संप्रेषणीयता- समाचार पत्रों का मुख्य तत्व विचारों का आदान– प्रदान करना और संवाददाता का प्रमुख कार्य समाचार संकलन कर अपने विचार और भावना के सधे व सशक्त शब्दों के साथ अभिव्यक्त करना है। इसके लिये मौलिक भाषा, विशिष्ट भाषा शैली व विचार प्रकट करने के अनोखे ढंग की निहायत आवश्यकता होती है।

·       Good speaker- A good reporter should be a good speaker. Without this, he would not be able to put his point in front of the people. He will be successful in getting to know people's thoughts, feelings, etc. only if he can present his words properly to the people. He will be able to do this only when he has the capacity for oratory.

·       अच्छा वक्ता- अच्छे संवाददाता को एक अच्छा वक्ता होना चाहिए। इसके बिना वह अपनी बात को लोगों के सामने रख पाने में समर्थ नहीं होगा। लोगों के विचार, भावनाएं आदि को अच्छी तरह जान पाने में वह तभी सफल होगा, जब वह अपनी बात लोगों के सामने सही ढंग से प्रस्तुत कर सके। ऐसा वह तभी कर पाएगा, जब उसमें वक्तृत्व की क्षमता होगी।
